Welcome to Friends of Acupuncture (FOA):

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine AOM, is an original form of holistic medicine, which includes: acupuncture, Asian herbal medicine, medical massage, diet modifications, and breathing and movement therapies. Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world.

Originating in China more than 2,500 years ago, acupuncture gained the attention of the American public during the Nixon administration in 1972. The rapid expansion of acupuncture in the United States is a result of the high degree of patient and physician acceptance, due in part to its rigorous credentialing and examination processes for its practitioners. To understand more about AOM, we invite you to read our recently published document, AOM in the US.

FOA’s MISSION: to advance public awareness and outreach, education and research in the fields of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

FOA is passionate about the medicine and advancing research, education public awareness and outreach of AOM in the U.S. Please share this site with family and friends. We invite patients and those interested in learning more about the practice of AOM to return to the FOA site often. Join FOA as a member today. It’s Free! We see consumer involvement as the voice that will transform both access and use of AOM in America!

In good health,
